Block Out the Noise

One of my favorite blogs about Lent.

Mitch Teemley

The traditional season of Lent has begun, a time of quietness, contemplation and repentance. In other words: truthfulness with oneself. How rare a thing that is in this “modern civilization” of ours. It’s also traditional to give up something for Lent, but perhaps the most important thing to give up is the noise that keep us from hearing the truth.

“Be still and know that I am God.” ~Psalm 46:10

“A man who views the world the same at fifty as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life.” ~Muhammad Ali

Birthday Gifts For Teachers

One afternoon my son came back from school and announced that next week we are going to celebrate his teacher’s birthday! OK, cool! The next day I received an email from his main teacher that we are going to celebrate the other teacher’s birthday and that she likes this and that ( whole list of things she likes ) OK, and now what? Another teacher’s birthday….We just celebrated his main teacher’s birthday, now assistant teacher has birthday – I am glad in Kindergarten you don’t get more teacher then 2 ! Shall we buy and bring a gift from the list? At all events, is it a a common practice to ask parents to celebrate birthdays like this ? What other parents will feel and think if they don’t bring any present ? What do you think? What’s your experience?

First Blog – The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me!

Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton

I decided to start this blog because I would like to get to know parents who are positive and open minded! Parents who think outside the box and want what’s best for their kids but are judged by society for the way they approach parenting. There is no golden rule how to raise kids and no one should ever tell US – parents how to do it and force us to decisions that are not ours. Have you ever been frustrated by the school system, teachers, expectations? If you were, this is the blog for you! You will see how we cope with different situations, we will share our ideas and ups and downs! I would love this blog to be a source for information, inspiration and encouragement to a free, avant- garde parent! And remember – always stay true yourself!

This website represents my thoughts and the ideas shared here are my own. If you would like to share your views or have any thoughts – share it with me! Would love to hear that! Don’t worry about punctuation, grammar and proper style! It’s a blog – not a book – be free and don’t be afraid. There are many parents like me and YOU! We just have to dig dipper to find them!
